Showtime SPL, The Internet Video Series
is being developed in an effort to revitalize our hobby of car audio and SPL Competition.
Primarily led by the DB Drag Racing Association, SPL competition has remained an underground autosport since the 90s. Those, truly fanatic about autosound had found it to be a sort of, "way of life". Having car audio enter every facet of our lives. Pursuing careers in the industry, spending gobs of money, and even tattooing our bodies with brand logos. This goes far beyond simply customizing a car. Our fellow competitors are like family.
I myself have been into car audio since 1992, and started competing in 1995. My entire life revolves around car audio. Passing up my sister's wedding to attend the DB Drag Racing World Finals in 2003. I even took out a personal loan to pay for audio equipment. I wish to share this fanaticism with the mainstream world.
Our hobby is dying, the underground nature is no longer adequate to support our lifestyle. So the idea is to bring it to the mainstream.
I believe when packaged in the correct manner, our hobby can be shown in a good light and spark interest in others. Or, at the very least, show a lifestyle to the public that has been misunderstood and not well known for 30+ years. Along side the presentation ideas, I have also designed my own competition format which adds some showmanship to autosound. I hope that this type of format also invigurates the sport and brings for fun and excitement to it.
The PREMISE of the show is pretty unique. To have a documentary/reality show quality to the lifestyle, and show how to's and project builds, as well as having Olympic style coverage of our Competitions.
During the first season, I will be showing 3 major builds of 3 diferent types of audio setups. Along side this I will try and capture parts of my daily life and how us SPL guys live. Then I will cover the various shows that I will attend and track the performance of these cars and others at the shows.
I never intended to go into this venture like this. Others have been complaining and debating for years on what is wrong with our industry, and little have done anything about it. My idea is just to show an example of what can be done. My ideas may not help, but I hope that others get inspired. Instead of me explaining my ideas, I am now trying to show them. And hope it takes off from here.

The Show is Planning to debute In the late Winter, early Spring of 2010, with weekly 30 min. long episodes hosted on Youtube. and viewable from this site's home-page.
Until then, I will have a Pilot (special episode) and a few other special videos coming soon.
